I was born, raised and educated in Cairo, Egypt. My Primary, Preparatory and Secondary (High School) education were all in a Private French School, College de la Salle (College des Freres), a Brother’s School in Cairo. All subject matter was taught in French. We also learned Arabic as a first language, French as a first foreign language and English as a second foreign language.  In short, by the age of 17, I was fluent in the three languages.

Along the way and over the years, having discovered an affinity for languages, I decided to learn, Italian and Spanish, and became quite fluent in those two languages.  There is also an ongoing project with Hebrew and German.

In September 1967, I was admitted to Ain Shams Medical School at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. All subject matter was taught in English. During Medical School, I was awarded a Scholarship during my 4th year. I Graduated in 1975 with Honors and an M.B.Ch.B. Degree (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery), which is the equivalent of an MD Degree in America. After a one year rotating internship in the university hospitals and 6 months in government service in a rural village of Egypt, I immigrated to the USA and landed in Buffalo, New York.

In Buffalo at Sister’s of Charity Hospital, I completed a 7-month rotating internship and 4 years in an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency, culminating in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  I was Board Certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and then became a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).

From there I went on to a very successful private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, where “the shot heard around the world" was fired.   I worked there from 1981 to 2001, affiliated with the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, a Harvard University Hospital. I held a position of Clinical Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Biology. At the Mount Auburn Hospital, I pioneered the Techniques of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Laser Surgery and Laparoscopic Hysterectomies.  I was featured on Channel 7 TV Boston with Lester Strong in 1993.  Link to Video  Along the way, I practiced in other community hospitals. I was Chief of Gynecology at Symmes Hospital in Arlington, Massachusetts. I also provided Obstetrical Services to the patients of the famous Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts, delivering their babies at the Mount Auburn Hospital.

In 2001 I moved with my wife to New London, New Hampshire, one and a half hours north of Boston.  There I practiced at New London Hospital, which eventually became part of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Alliance. At New London Hospital, I launched a program of Uro Dynamics for the Evaluation, Diagnosis and Treatment of patients with Urinary Stress Incontinence. At New London Hospital, I was the only physician in the State of New Hampshire using the innovative technology of Radio Frequency for the treatment of Urinary Stress Incontinence.

After 5 years in New Hampshire, and a total of more than 25 years in the Northeast, my wife of 30 years and I decided it was time to see the Southwest, and we moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in September 2006. I practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo, New Mexico for two years. Here again, I launched and started a new program for the Evaluation, Diagnosis and Treatment of women suffering from the disabling problem of Urinary Stress Incontinence, using the latest cutting edge technology available in America today.

Currently I am in Socorro, NM, practicing Obstetrics & Gynecology at Socorro General Hospital, part of the Presbyterian Health Care System.

Thank You for taking the time read this.

Chawki Emile Nahabet, MD

I want to thank and give the credit to my wife Amina, for conceiving the idea "QuestionsToMyGynecologist.com" during one of our conversations, infront of the fireplace where I was describing to her the lack of knowledge amongst my patients. "I give them information for Questions they should be asking me, but they don't ask me." She proposed the idea of a web site where women could go to find the questions they should be asking their Gynecologist.

I am grateful for her love, her support and her help. Without her, this would not have happened.
